Prospective Students

Thank you for your interest in CAPP and the Clinical Science PhD Program at FIU. I am committed to mentoring doctoral students who aspire to become leaders in clinical psychological science. In CAPP, training emphasizes the development of rigorous research skills, including research design, data collection and analysis, preparation of manuscripts for publication, and grant writing. Students are also provided with professional development experiences, including opportunities to collaborate on projects, present at scientific conferences, and engage with the broader research community.

Training in evidence-based assessment and intervention is also available, particularly in the areas of child and adolescent anxiety, depression, and suicidal behaviors. However, the primary aim of training in CAPP is to prepare students for careers in research. Applicants whose primary interest is in clinical practice are encouraged to consider FIU’s MS Program in Professional Counseling Psychology.

I welcome inquiries from highly motivated applicants who are passionate about advancing knowledge and improving outcomes for youth through research.
